MANOMETER:

Manometer can be defined as:

“A Device which is used to measure the pressure of a liquid at a point in a pipe is known as Manometer.”

 

PRINCIPLE OF MANOMETER:

The manometer works on the principle of balancing the column of a liquid by the same or another column of a liquid.

 


CLASSIFICATION OF MANOMETER:

The classification of Manometer are as given below:-

[a] Simple Manometers

   1] Piezometer

   2] U-tube Manometer

   3] Single Column Manometer or Micromanometer

 

[b] Differential Manometer

  1] U-Tube Differential Manometer.

  2] Inverted U-tube Differential Manometer.

  3] Differential Micro Manometer.

PIEZOMETER:

It is a simple type manometer. It is also known as low pressure type manometer.

In this type, one side of transparent tube or column is attached the pipe where the pressure of the liquid is to be measured and the other end is open into the atmosphere. This type of manometer only measures low positive pressure it cannot measure negative pressure.
